Patience

What a great day I had today!! My daddy has Mondays off of work now. I like this because I get to spend the whole day with him. With the exception of baseball practice. We started out our day a little differently than normal. I woke daddy up at 430 am to change my diaper. Wow did he look happy to do that!! He was just so excited to be able to see me so early in the morning. I told daddy I could make this a daily occurence. He said that it might be a better idea to only do this once in awhile. He said "In order to make it extra special." That daddy is so smart. After a great breakfast daddy told me today would be Car Maintenance Monday. We would get an oil change on daddy's car in the morning then after my nap we would get new wiper blades for mommy's car and then an oil change. Let me tell you about mommy's wiper blades. They were in sad shape. The rubber lining was coming off. Mommy had been telling daddy for some time to get it done. I guess it took riding out to auntie Shellie and Uncle Erick's in the rain to finally take action. As far as oil changes in cars go I don't have the slightest clue how to change the oil in a car. Evidently daddy doesn't either since he payed the car dealerships to do it for him. The oil change for daddy's car went great. Everyone thought I was so cute. (Shocker!) We came home and had lunch with mommy. She just loves to hold my hands and have me stand up like the giants that walk on their own two feet do. I gotta admit I love to do it myself. It makes me feel a little bit more grown up. As mommy and I were doing this daddy called the Ford dealership to see if they could change mommy's oil in the hour and a half window we had until daddy had to be at baseball practice. They assured him it would be no problem. So off we went. We got there and everyone was so friendly and helpful. We decided that we would use the jogging stroller to go for a jog/walk. Daddy says that we went on a 20 minute jog and 25 minute walk. I cannot dispute these facts because I was sawing logs about 10 minutes into the jog. I mean how could I not fall asleep. The stroller rides like a cadillac and the wind was blowing just right. Next thing I know we are back at the dealership and daddy has a frown on his face. He is talking to the car service tech who is telling daddy they haven't even started on the car yet. Daddy asks if they could just stop the job because he has to be at practice shortly. The serveice tech tells him they will do it very quickly. Daddy says o.k. but it was really putting him out, and he is disappointed they told him it would be done at a certain time and it isn't going to be. A few minutes later and the car was done and they had given daddy $20 off the oil change. Daddy says that sometimes it pays off to not get angry and blow up. In the end daddy saved $20 and he was only a few minutes late to practice. Not to mention he saved some himself some gray hairs by not getting stressed about the situation. Which is good because mommy and I were just talking about the gray hairs popping up on daddy's head. Daddy said that patience is a virtue and if I can learn this early on in life I will be much happier for it. Well daddy today you taught this lesson well. I have a sense that applying it in my own life will be a work in progress. Especially considering the language daddy used when that car sat at that stoplight for several extra seconds on the way to dropping me off at grandmas. I am just saying remember that patience is a skill that takes patience to instill in me. Good night Asher
